As I took over the design for system security and password, I dived into the usability test and the design improvement that can make in next version.
• Can enable personal hot spot without unlock the device which cause a great concerns of devices security that people can access to the hot spot password directly
• Some security related details not optimized well, result in some minor logic mistakes
• Create a lock screen security guideline to make sure the data that can access without password will not create any risk to our user
• List out the improvement action items and talk to PM to apply in next version
I conducted user testing with the people around me that have used OPPO devices for a while. I interviewed 5 users, including 3 younger generation and 2 of the elders. Also done competitor analysis of IOS security and password/passcode system.
After analyzed and define the problems, I created usability improvement presentation and present to engineers and PM and scheduled to fix the major problems.
One of the feature that OPPO devices have is to assist user to unlock their phone with face recognition in a relatively dim place. Although OPPO already launch this feature, but they still received some feedback related to face recognition is hard to use under dim surroundings.
I looked into the researcher report and tried to reproduce the problem to define the core problem that user might encounter and come up with the solutions that can solve problems.
• User don't know the feature exist
• User felt very intrusive when the screen became very bright without any heads-up
• To remind user of this addition feature, proposing to add the switch at the end page of setting up the face recognition. When user finish setting up the face recognition, they can also choose whether they want to enable light enhancement while dim surroundings
• When devices detected insufficient light to enable face recognition, pop-up a system notification to ask user if they want to enable the light enhancement through brighten the screen
I'm responsible for system biometrics interaction and UI design. The next version of OPPO Color OS need new fingerprint UI design to be adapted to the new visual style.
I propose the new finger print style to match the new OS 13 finger print motion.
